We are now accepting preschool applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Classes can fill up quickly, so if you are considering St. Bart's for preschool in the upcoming school year, please turn in your application as soon as you can.  If you would like an application, please contact Mark Boileau or Kate Wakefield at 989-684-6751. Applications are also available below (Preschool Newsletters and Documents).  You can print off the application and mail it to the school address or drop it off.  

Information for the 2019-2020 School Year
  • Three-Year-Old Preschool:  Tuesdays & Thursdays 8:20 am - 11:20 am -- $61/month
  • Four- and Five-Year-Old Preschool:  Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:20 am - 11:20 am -- $83/month
  • Four- and Five-Year-Old Preschool:  Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 8:20 am - 3:00 pm -- $193/month 

St. Bartholomew Lutheran Preschool offers all day preschool for students in the four and five year old class, on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. The program runs from 8:10 am. until 3:10 pm.

April 11, 2019:- Please be sure to send in 12 plastic eggs with your child by Friday for a project we will be doing next week. We are learning about ocean animals this week and reading The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark along with The Rainbow Fish. We are also working on the letter W and graphing (jelly beans!). In our Bible lessons we are learning how Jesus showed his love for us by suffering and dying on the cross. I hope you can make it to the Easter for Kids on Saturday.

April 4, 2019: The 3 year old class had a blast exercising their bodies at Gym Jesters on Tuesday. The 4 year olds had fun making pages for a class book with their buddies. Our books this week are Goodnight Gorilla, Put Me in the Zoo, and Ten Black Dots. In our Bible lessons, we are beginning the stories of Holy Week.

March 28, 2019: We made it to the number 10! We are getting really good at counting forward to 10 and backward from 10, as well as identifying our other numbers. This week we are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly and our books this week are The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Very Impatient Caterpillar. In our Bible lesson, we are learning how Jesus healed ten sick men and how we can show our thankfulness to God.


March 21, 2019: The 4 year olds are excited for their turn to see the butterflies tomorrow! Remember to wear bright colors. There is no show and tell this week as we are reviewing our letters. We are reading Mrs. Wishy-Washy and Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type as we learn about farm animals. In our BIble lesson, we learned how a good Samaritan helped a hurt man and how we can show love to our neighbors.

March 14, 2019: The three year olds had a great time seeing the very active butterflies at Dow Gardens on Tuesday. The four year olds will be going next Friday. Please be sure to turn in the permission slips. This week we are learning about community helpers and the letter T, and we had fun mixing blue and yellow to make green. In our Bible lesson, we learned how Jesus taught Peter to trust and that we can always trust in Jesus.

March 7, 2019: The preschool students are excited to play the handbells this Sunday in the 9:00am service. Please have your child wear his/her blue school shirt, and be sure to stop by school afterward for the open house to see all the projects the students have been working on! This week we have been learning how to take good care of our teeth. The 4 year old class is excited to see Miss Nelson is Missing tomorrow at MLS and the 3 year old class will be visiting the butterfly exhibit at Dow Gardens next Tuesday. Please be sure to return permission slips.

February 28, 2019: This week we are reading books by Dr. Seuss - Green Eggs and Ham and The Foot Book. We had fun experimenting with green eggs as well as working on our space projects for the open house. Our letter this week is R, and we are also working on the number 9. In our Bible lessons we continue to hear how Jesus showed that he was true God through the miracles he did like making a paralyzed man walk. The 4 year old class will be going to see Miss Nelson is Missing next Friday. Please turn in your permission slips and money by Monday, March 4.​

February 21, 2019: The 4 year old class had a great time with the Kindergarten class at the planetarium yesterday. The 4 year olds will be having their Valentine Party/Special Person’s Day tomorrow, the 22nd from 10:15-11:20. We are getting back on track with our letter of the week and math concepts, and we are working on our projects for the Open House which will be on Sunday, March 10 from 10:15-11:30. The preschool students will also be playing the handbells in church that Sunday. Thank you for sending in extra clothes for your children. If wet clothes come home, please send a replacement the next class.​

February 14, 2019:The 4 year old class will be having their Valentine Party/Special Person’s Day next Friday, the 22nd due to the snow day this week. The 4 year old class is still scheduled for the field trip to the Delta Planetarium next Wednesday, weather permitting! Please be sure to return your permission slips by Monday at the latest. Thank you for sending in extra clothes for your children. Their socks and pants have been getting we at recess...when we have had school.

January 24, 2019: The snow days are throwing off our show and tell days, but thank you for continuing to send in the letter bags with your children. They enjoy telling their classmates about what they’ve brought. This week we are sharing the letter M from last week as well as N for this week. We are also starting to learn about the solar system this week. Please remember that all preschool students dismiss at 11:20 this Friday and that we will be singing in church on Sunday at 9:00 am.

January 17, 2019: This week we are learning about music and the letter M. Our books are The Snowy Day and Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin. In our Bible lesson we are learning how Jesus always obeyed his parents, even when he visited the temple as a young boy. The preschool students will be singing in church on Sunday the 27th.

January 10, 2019: The preschoolers have done a great job of picking up right where they left off before break. This week we are learning about snow and hoping that we get some more to play in! Please remember to send snow pants, boots, mittens, and hats each class period, even if there is no snow. We are now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year, so please get your applications in right away and let others know who might be interested.


December 13, 2018: Thank you for meeting with me for parent teacher conferences. If you still would like to meet, please speak with me to arrange a time. We have been busy with all things Christmas, and the children are doing a great job learning their parts for our service on December 20th. Please let me know as soon as possible if your child will be participating in the service. A note was sent home this week regarding the gift exchange and class parties on Wednesday the 19th (4 year olds) and Thursday the 20th (3 year olds).

December 6, 2018: We have been hard at work practicing our recitations, songs, and handbells for our Christmas service on December 20th. Please return your note as soon as possible so that we can plan for which children will be participating in the service This week we are learning about our five senses, the letter J, and the number 5. In our BIble lessons we are learning how God spoke to Samuel and how God rescued the three men. Please sign up for a parent teacher conference if you have not already done so. If the dates or times do not work for you, I would be happy to find another time to meet with you.

November 29, 2018: I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and enjoyed their extra day off! This week the students are having fun learning about magnets and the letter I. In our Bible lesson we are learning how God made the walls of Jericho fall down when he brought the Israelites into the land he promised to them. Our books this week are Inch by Inch and Press Here. Please be sure to send snow gear for your children for every class - they will need it! December will be a busy month, please be sure to read the notes that come home.

November 15, 2018;  The 4 year old class will be meeting at Michigan Lutheran Seminary at 8:40am on Friday morning to see Beauty and the Beast. The children are looking forward to it! We have been learning about the first Thanksgiving this week and doing various Thanksgiving activities. Our letter this week is H, and we are also working on the number 4. Please be sure that your child has a warm coat, a hat, and mittens every class. Once we have snow, the children will also need snow pants and boots.

November 8, 2018: Permission slips for Beauty and the Beast were sent home this week. Please return them by Monday, the 12th. This week we are learning about the seasons and working on the letter G. Our books are Big Bear, Small Mouse and Goodnight Already! In our Bible lesson we are hearing how God took care of baby Moses and how he takes care of us too. The children are excited to sing their song in church on Sunday!

November 1, 2018: It’s hard to believe it is November already! I have begun assessments on the children and will be holding parent teacher conferences in a few weeks once assessments are finished and sent home. Please note there is no preschool next Friday, November 9. In our Bible lesson this week we are learning how Joseph forgave his brothers. Our books are The Very Busy Spider and Go Away Big Green Monster!, and we had fun making pages for our own monster book with our 5th-8th grade buddies. We have show and tell again this week with the letter F, and our new shape is a triangle. 

October 25, 2018: Thank you for donating the treats and paper supplies for our harvest fest party! Our books this week are Leaf Man and Big Pumpkin, and we are working on the number 3 and the color orange. In our Bible lesson we are learning how God continued to bless Joseph and made him a ruler in Egypt. If anyone needs order forms for pictures on the 30th, please let me know. We will have our next Mommy and Me class next Tuesday. It is a free class, so please join us for some fun and socialization!


October 18, 2018: This week the preschoolers are learning about fire safety, and the 4 year olds had the opportunity to learn about it first hand from one of our parents who is a fireman. Thank you, Mr. Shaffer! We are working on the letter E and making patterns, and our books are Fire Engine No. 9 and Elmer. In our Bible lesson, we are learning how God had a plan for Joseph even when his brothers tried to harm him

October 4, 2018: We are learning all about apples this week and the letter D. Our books this week are Apples for Everyone and The Dot. We are also working on the number 2. In our Bible lesson we are learning how God answered Abraham’s prayer for a son. The preschool students will be having their harvest parties on October 25th and 26th. Parents are welcome to join us those days. More information will be coming soon.

Sept 27, 2018: This week we are learning about our families and how they are alike and different. Our books are Sing and Dance in Your Polka Dot Pants and The Duckling Gets a Cookie. The children have been doing a great job with their letter bags; this week is the letter C. In our Bible lesson we are learning how God saved Noah and his family and how God continues to keep his promises to us. Health appraisals and immunization records need to be turned in before next week!

Sept 20, 2018: The preschoolers have quickly adjusted to the routine of preschool and have all been such good helpers when it is time to clean up! This week we are continuing to learn about our friends and our emotions. Our books are The Way I Feel and Mat Man Shapes. We use Mat Man to learn how to draw our bodies, and we use the pieces of Mat Man to make all of our letters. We even made Mat Man for a snack! Our letter this week is B, and our shape is a circle. In our Bible lesson we are learning how Adam and Eve disobeyed God, but God showed his love with the promise of a Savior.

Sept 13, 2018: This week in preschool we are working on the letter A, and we will have our first letter show and tell on Thursday and Friday. Thank you for returning your children’s All About Me and My Family sheets. We are using them to learn about our classmates and how we are alike and different. Our books this week are Be Who You Are and David Goes to School. In our Bible lesson we are learning how God created our world and man and woman. Please return any missing paperwork as soon as possible and be sure to send in an extra set of clothes for your child if you have not done so


Sept 6, 2018: We are having a great first week in preschool! We have been learning our friends’ names, learning the classroom routines, and have had fun exploring the classroom. We have also been practicing the song that we will be singing on Sunday. Please join us at 9:00 for our outdoor service and then stay for the fun afterward. The children received a St. Bartholomew t-shirt. Please wear them on Sunday. If your child did not receive a shirt, more shirts are being ordered, and your child will receive his or hers shortly. Please send in any missing paperwork and an extra set of clothes as soon as possible.
