April 11, 2019:- So far the Kindies have done a great job being prepared for the ever changing weather. Don’t quit!! This week is going to test our readiness when it gets cold again. Also, school begins at 8:20 with Christ Light. Please give your kids time to get ready for that by being here by 8:10.

April 4, 2019: Teaching the Lent stories in Christ Light has been such a privilege. Remembering what Jesus did for us is good for the kids, and this teacher! Thanks to a generous donation to our classroom we have some new STEM building kits that we have enjoyed incorporating into our afternoons.

March 28, 2019: This nice long stretch of school has been a blessing! Math in Kindergarten is getting to the point where they know addition and subtraction and we’re just starting practicing math facts. We’ve discussed how no one gets good at anything by doing it one time, but practice makes you better. Even the pros still practice!! The really great part of Kindergarten is the practice is also really fun!

March 21, 2019: Last Friday we began a very fun, recurring event by inviting Preschoolers in for a game on Fridays. I hope this will get the Preschool students excited about Kindergarten and familiar with the classroom and me. It sure was fun to watch this years Kindies be the “Big Kids” and help out. We look forward to building these relationships!

March 14, 2019: Celebrating the 100th day of school was very fun. We counted several items in our room that we have more than 100 of. I think my favorite was the books in our library! What blessings we have been given. Now we will keep working on counting by 10s, 5s and 2s to 100 and beyond!

March 7, 2019: It’s been great getting back into the routine of school everyday. In Math addition is on the horizon and so is the concept of subtraction. They are so proud to be doing Math like that. Also, the writing that is happening is getting easier and easier for others to read! If anyone has Crayola Markers we could use some fresh ones. We’ve been throwing lots of dried out ones away

February 28, 2019: Going to the Planetarium last week was really great. We all learned new things about the planets and what happens on the Space Station. The Kindies behaved so very well! I am so proud of them and can’t wait to go on another field trip to MLS on the 8th.

February 21, 2019: Slow and steady forward progress is being made. It’s a blessing to have a small class when there are snow days to contend with. We are working hard on Math and reading, with lots of writing practice

February 10, 2019: This week we read two books that were written as a series of letters. Inspired by that we wrote letters to our reading buddies in Mrs. Cole’s class. We also started counting by 2’s since we have mastered counting by 1’s, 5’s and 10’s..

January 25, 2019: We sing in church this Sunday! Since we no longer have rest time the Kindies have been listening to the book “Little House in the Big Woods”. Learning about what a 5 and 6 year old did in the 1890s has been fun. On Friday we wrote plans on how to use cardboard boxes to build our own Little House. It was a very fun way to combine reading, writing, science and art. If you haven’t seen it yet they’d love to show it to you.

January 19, 2019: In math we are learning the concept of one more and one less. It’s been a fun challenge. For a reading and writing activity we made butter in a mason jar. Even the kids who claimed to not like butter ate it on crackers and enjoyed it! We’re working hard on the song that we’re singing in church on the 27th.

January 12, 2019: Happy New Year! 2019 is sure to be fantastic. I was blown away by the Kindies when they returned this week. They are readers now without a question. It’s going to be fun to see them learn all the new things coming their way.

December 13, 2018:- We have readers in Kindergarten! Please, please, please keep reading with them everyday over the break from school. I’m excited to see what 2019 will bring!

December 7, 2018:  It’s an exciting month and we’re harnessing that into reading! The Kindies have been reading books everyday and it’s really fun to see the growth in them. In Math we just started measuring weight and will be using scales soon. In Science we’re learning about habitats that animals and plants need. It’s fun to teach them about how wonderful the creation is that God gave us. All that and still they know their parts for the Christmas service!

November 29, 2018:  This week we began to learn the Christmas Program that will be on December 20th. You won’t want to miss it! The kindies already know two of the songs. Thanks for sending all the appropriate snow gear this week….keep it coming. They have so much fun playing in the snow.

November 15, 2018: It’s an exciting week in Kindergarten with the buzz of the field trip that’s coming up. We will use that energy to write about the experience. The book order that is due Friday is the last one I’ll submit before Christmas. Remember the booster seats on Friday!

November 8, 2018: From now until Thanksgiving we are learning about shapes in Math. Word families were introduced and it’s been fun using Dr. Seuss as inspiration! I have challenged all of them to learn how to tie a shoe by next week and they are eagerly practicing. The countdown to seeing Beauty and the Beast is getting exciting!

October 25, 2018:  Besides all the amazing reading and math we’re working on I added tying shoes to the day! It amazes me everyday how hard these 5 year olds are willing to work and how eager they are to conquer new things. They are writing their memory work and also making a 10 Commandments book as an ongoing writing project.

October 18, 2018: The Kindies are turning into readers and authors. They learned about lists and sequence by making pizza dough. They also are up to 24 sight words, with more added to what they know almost daily. Kindy parents will find the words in the trail Guides.

Oct 4, 2018: In how we are also tempted but have the weapon of God’s Word to help us resist. The memory treasure of the week is John 11:25. We also are working hard to break the habit of blurting out during learning times.

Sept 27, 2018: In reading we have several sight words we’re practicing. The list of words they’re reading grows by the day!! To help reinforce starting sounds our Show & Share on Friday will be “Things that start with a B” this Friday. In science we’re having fun exploring using Science Tools.

Sept 20, 2018: The Kindies are having a great week learning about the birth of Jesus. It’s such a blessing to be able to teach the story of our salvation! Also, in math we learned about Zero the Hero.

Sept 13, 2018: This week we are really buckling down and working on writing, especially thinking about Uppercase and Lowercase letters. The kids are so willing to work and learn! To keep everyone safe, we changed our snack and lunch policy to NO peanut butter in our classroom.

Sept 6, 2018: Off to a great start! We learned the song “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, counted to five with our pinky fingers first, and started working on writing, all the first day. We will keep practicing the song and sing it Sunday.
